This is a series of paintings I began on my studies in Italy. They are painted with handmade pigments ground from the minerals of the Tuscan region that I found in an art store in Florence. The colors are deep and the texture rich, painted onto Fabriano Italian watercolor paper. During my travels in Italy, I was inundated with art. These studies were a way for me to digest the large amount of art I was viewing in a multitude of venues--from the churches in the small Italian villas to the the Uffizi in Florence, the Venice Biennial to the Guggenheim on the canal, the Vatican in Rome to the temporary alternative spaces in Milan.
